2022 Etsy Gift Guide: Holiday Support for Handmade Artists

Hello, Sparkle Squad. I hope this November finds you well, warm and extra sparkly. It’s sweater weather, y’all! Kentucky’s actually back to 70 degrees this week, but it’s still colorful with the fallen leaves. 🍂 I’m in the mood to shop, so let’s check out the 2022 Etsy Gift Guide.

Holiday Shopping at Etsy

Now that Halloween is over, the holiday shopping season has begun. Thanksgiving will be here in just 18 days and Christmas will be here in 49 days! The older I get, the more I despise holiday shopping in person unless I’m at a bead store. I’ll happily be shopping the 2022 Etsy Gift Guide online while in my jammies, drinking cinnamon coffee, and petting my kitties.

If you watched my Spooky Sparkles Collab on my Sparkle by Monica YouTube channel or my Beading Brigade channel, you saw the custom crocheted jack-o-lantern and candy corn themed gloves that I wore which I purchased from fellow Etsian Giese DeseiGns. I love to purchase holiday gloves for my video tutorials and have received multiple positive comments on them all.

Etsy has long been a wonderful online option for buyers to shop for personalized or themed products conveniently (see many sustainable choices) that talented sellers create in various arts and crafts.

There are several gift guides on Etsy categorized by theme, budget (search gifts under $25), recipient (check for him), relationship (shop for friends), pets, and more so that you can enjoy shopping for everyone on your list from the comfort of your favorite chair, complete with a cozy blanket and warm beverage.

As an Etsy seller myself, I frequently shop my fellow artisans’ Etsy wares because I understand the passion and love that goes into every design. I’m proud to shop with established Etsy sellers that have good reviews and offer thorough product descriptions. In my 13+ years shopping on Etsy, I’ve only had one slight issue with a seller and that is something I can’t say about other platforms, even at the big box stores.

Although some have complained about non-handmade items appearing on the Etsy platform, I still appreciate the variety of niche products with options for customization. It’s very easy to zero in on handmade products using the handy search filters, right down to your local sellers! I particularly value my fellow Etsians and enjoy giving the extra sparkly sellers an occasional shoutout in my YouTube videos and social media posts.

As an artist, the hardest part about selling is just being noticed and getting referrals. A painful lesson that I experienced first-off was the lack of support from those closest to me as well as the logistics of selling at craft fairs. Etsy has opened up another world for me to share my creations while shopping for custom items that I can’t easily get elsewhere. So, yes. I still love Etsy and you will, too.

Attention brand new Etsy store sellers: Use my SparklyMonDownloads Etsy shop’s referral link & we’ll both receive 40 free listings! {Brand new Etsy shops only}.
