Just like the 2022 Met Gala’s theme, the Gilded Age of New York inspired their multiple textiles with variations of fringe, bows, ruffles and beadwork. Even the red carpet itself helped to embody the majesty of that era.  Coined by Mark Twain, the term denotes a time of prosperity, industrialization and growth in the early American experience. Think “Age of Innocence” with the rich hues and extravagant details that exploded in high society during from 1870 to 1890.

Aside from the gilded grandeur, this color combination and unique beadwork also works well for cosplay fans of multiple series. The beaded beads mimic a cage around the glass pearl and wrap around the design along with the coordinating wire in the dangle earrings. These enclosed elements of the design speak to the independent American spirit while also vibing with our royal cousins across the pond.
