My Bridgerton Tea Party Premiere and Bead Haul
I’ve had a sparkling good time with my Society Papers beading supplies that I purchased from Jesse James Beads. When I discovered the JJB theme, I knew I wanted to make YouTube videos and practice my attempt at a Lady Whistledown (a.k.a. Julie Andrews) British accent. To say I achieved a miracle is no small feat, being that I’m originally from east Tennessee and in no way will EVER LOSE my southern twang! lol.
Thanks to Riven’s TikTok alert for the Netflix Tudum early premiere of Season 3, Part 2, I was able to enjoy a giddy experience of anticipation and comradery with fellow Polin fans! I took the afternoon off from work, had an impromptu solo McAlister’s Deli tea party lunch, and unboxed my Jesse James Beads while waiting for the “carriage” to arrive! lol
Reading the Books and Waiting on Tenterhooks
I’m now reading of author Julia Quinn’s stories. Despite not having enough scene time with Team Polin (Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, book 4), I still love Season 3 for the ultimate Lady Whistledown reveal and family resolutions. There are those arguing for more spice, but I felt confused by the lack of dialogue for their relationship’s progression. All the side-plots with intermittent angst keeping Polin separated for most of their own season was tedious. Spoilers: The MULTIPLE scenes revisiting Benedict’s bedroom antics was totally unnecessary and would have benefitted Polin fans’ hurt feelings by substituting that with…oh let’s get crazy and suggest…a discussion about discovering Pen’s pregnancy. I mean, that was a surprise reveal the last couple of minutes. How exactly did “Colin” catch up to Pen’s two sisters that complained the whole season about “how to get pregnant” this and “possible pregnancy pains” that. lol.
I know Shondaland went out of order with the books and are trying to position the series for optimum viewing interest sustainability, but several plot lines are disappointing with main character arc switch-a-roos. It was just sad that they bypassed key moments during the sweetheart phase for Team Polin. To help ease our bitterness, I’m hopeful that they will pack some Polin relationship “a-ha moments” as flashbacks in Season 4. lol. It was a cool twist that Pen was able to “save herself” after Colin exhausted his male ego vs. the book’s method. Both great ideas, but the show gave a more empowered path which felt modern and yet lovely.
I don’t know if you’ve watched the Bridgerton series on Netflix, but you should if you enjoy Regency romance with a modern twist and lots of color. (Note: Tis’ a tad spicy and not in a Pride & Prejudice Colin Firth or even a Matthew Macfadyen way). Keep a fan handy for hot flashes or averting the eyes.
Since it’s going to take 2 whole years for the next Bridgerton season to be released, it’s probably a good time to FINALLY check out my friend Laura’s recommendation for Outlander. Apparently, it’s a book series and a show on Starz. Wish me luck. lol.
I am waiting with trepidation for Bridgerton Season 4 in 2026 (yes, it’s that far away), due to Benedict’s tedious chaos (book 3) & Francesca’s implied mess (book 6) in Netflix’s Season 3 side-plots. Hopefully, my fears will be assuaged by better fan adherence in the writing room. (Hint, hint, Jess Brownell). It’s been a blast following the world tour Public Relations (PR) adventures with Nicola Coughlan (Penelope) and Luke Newton (Colin).
